The British royal family has a tradition each year at the end of the summer to travel to Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Talk about an end-of-summer bash! It’s a bit of a mystery as to what exactly goes on in the “summer home,” but what is clear is that it’s a long-standing tradition for the Windsors.
The castle is a 50,000-acre estate located in the Scottish Highlands, and it has been in the royal family since 1852. What we do know of the vacation is that it’s a lot like an all-American barbecue — they even have a perennial barbecue!
Even better — the royal family even wash their own dishes after the barbecue. Can you image Queen Elizabeth standing at a sink and washing dishes? We sure can’t!
“It’s the most beautiful place on earth,” Princess Eugenie once said of Balmoral. “I think Granny is the most happy there. I think she really, really loves the Highlands.”
