Ben Hicks is a photographer from Boca Raton, Florida, with an amazing eye and a true passion for wildlife — especially marine wildlife. His photos from the perspective of the creatures that inhabit the ocean are breathtaking in scope and inspirational.
The photographer’s career began in college in 1999 where he would shoot for sporting events using his sister’s borrowed Canon Rebel camera. Once he decided to become a full-time photographer, his natural enthusiasm for the sea found a home within his professional life.
Though he’s never faced anything truly perilous like a flesh-eating shark, Ben has been slammed into reefs by waves before.
Ben says that patience is one of the key factors to getting the best underwater shot. That and a good iPhone 7 camera! Though he says that “the best camera is the one you always have with you.”
