Winter may not be the thing you want to think about right now in the midst of one of the coldest winters in recent history, but this winter wonderland promises that you’ll have a total blast in an amazing environment. Finland is already known for its sub-zero temperatures, so Lapland Hotels SnowVillage got together with HBO Nordic and had a baby — a 200,000-square-foot baby in the form of an ice hotel modeled after the ever-popular HBO show Game of Thrones.
The Lapland Hotels SnowVillage is an already-existing ice hotel that serves hundreds of guests every year, but the resort is looking to use 44 million pounds of snow and over 771,000 pounds of ice to focus its attraction to the pop culture tourism crowd. The hotel is fully serviced, and you can use such amenities like the Ice Bar, Ice Restaurant, and the Ice Chapel. Be forewarned, though: heating is (obviously) not an added comfort, so leave the fuzzy slippers at home and come prepared to sleep in your parka!
Even if you aren’t big on the fantasy series, the SnowVillage is still an excellent place to unwind by getting front row seats to the spectacular Northern Lights display, and even embark on a husky safari or a reindeer ride.
If you do plan on going, make sure you go before the hotel closes this April. Otherwise if you go any later there won’t be any hotel left to stay at!
